The discovery of this coin is just as interesting as the coin itself: Local farmers came across a historical shipwreck of a Chinese junk on the banks of the Yangtze River at an exceptionally low water level.
Almost 900-year-old coins of the Emperor Hui Tsung were found on board. The large 10 Cash coins from China with the characteristic square hole were casted and not minted.
A further special feature: The coins depict the personal calligraphy of the emperor. Hui Tsung reigned as the 8th emperor of the Song Dynasty between 1100 and 1126.
