In the early hours of December 7th 1941 the Japanese air raid on the naval base of the US Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor took place. This event marked the beginning of the Pacific War.
On September 2nd 1945, the Japanese signed the surrender document aboard the US battleship USS Missouri. Thus, after years of bloodshed, the Second World War in the Pacific came to an end as well.
