This 25 Centavos commemorative coin from Cuba was issued in the year 1989 on the occasion of what would have been the 220th birthday of the great natural scientist, Alexander von Humboldt.
Humboldt visited Cuba in 1800 and 1801; a nature reserve in the eastern part of the island is now named after him.
