The Trojan War is one of the most legendary Greek mythology tales. Led by the greatest Greek hero of all time, Achilles, soldiers destroyed the villages of Troy over a lengthy 9 year period, yet the city of Troy remained impenetrable.
So, a cunning plan was devised and a huge, hollow horse was built, an animal sacred to the Trojans, it was left just outside the gates of the City as if it was a gift from the Gods. That evening the Trojans dragged the horse in not knowing that waiting for them inside, the ravenous Greeks could be found, set to open the city gates and finally destroy it.
The City Under Siege Collection is based on this historic story and consists of 8 unique 55mm high relief coins. Each one features a different Greek soldier and is finished in antique bronze as a nod to the Bronze Age period the tale originates from.
