Known most famously for his invention of the popular modern communications device, the telephone, the Scottish-born Alexander Graham Bell is one of the most renowned inventors to have ever lived. Having conducted the first known successful telephone transmission in 1876, Alexander initiated a technological development that has gone on to be developed by world-class experts of the technological world in the 20th and 21st centuries.
