He was Roman Emperor in the year 211. Their second son Caracalla was born in the year 189 and was destined to hold the office of the Roman Emperor from the years 211 to 217. In the year 193, the so-called “Year of the Four Emperors”, power struggles occurred within the empire subsequent to the death of the old Emperor Commodus.
This struggle for imperial dignity resulted in Septimius emerging as the sole victor. He remained as Roman Emperor until such time as his death in the year 211. Each of these silver coins is authentic and about 1,800 years old. Besides featuring the portraits of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna, the reverse sides of the coins vary. In those days, the reverse sides of the coins were used to honour important events or gods as well as to convey political messages to the people.
