At 06:30 in the morning, Allied ground forces began their assault on the five target beaches to heavy enemy fire. Demolition teams and specialised armour pushed ashore, clearing paths through the mines, obstacles and fortifications on the beaches so that the infantrymen behind could secure the beachheads. Produced in remembrance of the incredible sacrifices made by so many during the landings, the 129,710 Ground Troops commemorative is part of the D-Day 75th Anniversary Collection and features an image of a British infantryman in front of the combined flags of the Allied Forces.
